► 1/ Is it essential to book?

We strongly advise passengers to book in advance, because the number of places on board is limited. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of the full payment. Bookings can be made:

• By Internet: www.compagnie-vendeenne.com (secure credit card payment)
• By telephone at: 0 825 139 085 (0.15 € incl.VAT/min) (credit card payment)
• By post including a cheque (only in euros) for payment
• At Compagnie Vendéenne Ticket Offices in Fromentine – La Barre de Monts, in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie and on Ile d'Yeu
• At Compagnie Vendéenne authorized sales partner outlets (Tourist Offices, travel agencies etc.)

► 2/ Do I have to pay for my child aged under 4?

Yes, the Compagnie Vendéenne offers a range of fares adapted to children’s ages: infants under 4 years, children from 4 to under 12 years, juniors from 12 to under 18 years). Children aged under 4 are counted as fully-fledged passengers and must have a valid transport ticket.

► 3/ Do I have to pay for my pet animal?

Animals must be checked in and have a transport ticket. Animals must be kept on a lead. You may be asked to muzzle the animal.

► 4/ Can I take my bike on board the Compagnie Vendéenne boats?

No, the boats operated by the Compagnie Vendéenne are passenger boats reserved exclusively for the transport of people. Bicycles, prams and any other hefty equipment or dangerous materials (gas bottles, chemical products etc.) are not allowed on board. Only folding pushchairs may be brought on board.

Only 2 items of hand baggage per person are allowed (maximum 20kg/person). Any item which is considered to be too cumbersome may be refused by the Compagnie Vendéenne staff at the embarkation point.

► 5/ I booked on line, but I haven’t received a confirmation message or I can’t print out my ticket voucher..?

If at all possible, make a note of the reservation number. ► 6/ What can I do if I have lost or forgotten my transport ticket?

In the event of a forgotten or lost ticket, the passenger will be required to provide a deposit in the form of a cheque for the full value of the reservation. Subject to the availability of places, a duplicate ticket will be issued to enable the passenger to embark. The cheque will be returned to the customer in exchange for the recovered or unused ticket (subject to examination by our ticket services). If the original ticket cannot be produced, the deposit cheque will be cashed on the 31st day after the crossing.

► 7/ How can I collect my transport ticket?

You must show your reservation number at the Compagnie Vendéenne Ticket Office at least 30 minutes before the boat’s departure time. Ticket offices are located:

• In Fromentine – La Barre de Monts : At the Port Passenger terminal (Gare Maritime) in Fromentine – 85550 La Barre de Monts
• In Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie : directly at the boarding point – avenue Jean Cristau – 85800 Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie
• On Ile d’Yeu : 9 bis, rue de la Chaume (opposite the ‘Coopérative Maritime’) – 85350 Port-Joinville. Tickets will not be sent by post.

► 8/ How long are the crossings to Ile d’Yeu?

From Fromentine <=> l’île d’Yeu : 45 min.
From Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie <=> l’île d’Yeu : 60 min.

► 9/ Taking the coach between Nantes and Fromentine or La Roche-sur-Yon and Fromentine...

You are advised to allow 30 min between the expected arrival time in Fromentine and embarkation on board Compagnie Vendéenne boats. Indeed, traffic can be heavy on our roads and so you must allow a sufficient interval of time between the arrival/departure of the coach and the embarkation/disembarkation of the boat. You can book coach seats with Effia Synergies at: www.destineo.fr (Nantes-Fromentine route) or with Sovetours at: www.sovetours.com (scheduled bus routes in the Vendée department).

► 10/ Can I change or cancel a booking which I have already paid for?

Yes, tickets can be changed or cancelled subject to certain conditions. (see the Company’s General terms and Conditions of Sale) .

► 11/ Where can I park my car when I’m going to Ile d’Yeu?

For departures from Fromentine – La Barre de Monts: Parking in Fromentine is regulated; fee-paying and guarded private car parks are available. (Go to Departing from Fromentine).

For departures from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie: Free parking is available.
The « Île d’Yeu » free car park: located 500 m from the boarding point– Boulevard G. Pompidou (near the Soudinière lake).
Free car park (except July / August): located 500 m from the boarding point – Place de la Douane.

► 12/ Can I enter the departure lounge in Fromentine with a luggage trolley?

The use of luggage trolleys is regulated. You can only enter the Passenger terminal (Gare Maritime) with a luggage trolley (to access the ticket counters for the maritime shipping companies). Beyond this point (i.e. in the tunnel and in the departure lounge), no luggage trolleys are allowed.

► 13/ How can I manage to book both my accommodation and my boat crossings to Ile d’Yeu at the same time?

When booking accommodation on Ile d’Yeu, the boat crossings must also be booked at the same time. The Tourist Office can help with this process. Tel: 02 51 58 32 58.

► 14/ Which means of payment are accepted by the Compagnie Vendéenne?

We accept the following means of payment: cash (only in euros), cheques (only in euros), credit cards

► 15/ Am I entitled to the special rates for ‘islanders’ and ‘islander related’ passengers?

The ‘islander’ fares apply only to permanent residents of the island. The ‘islander-related’ rates apply to those who are in possession of an ‘islander-related’ card which is issued to people in two circumstances: 1) they have parents who are alive and whose main residence is on the island; 2) they have proof of having lived on the island for 15 years as their main residence. ‘Islander’ and ‘Islander-related’ fares are granted only to those who can show the relevant islander/islander-related cards which are issued by the town hall on Ile d’Yeu. Without such a card, the full rate is applied.
